| Description | The latest entry in NEWS is the release of 1.0.0 back in 2012 despite the fact that there have been at least 5 releases since then (1.0.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4). While people can always go to https://gnunet.org/git/libextractor.git and see what the changes where, it would make downstream packagers' lives easier if the changes were summarized in NEWS. | ||||

In my opinion this could be generated from git log, similar to the way Guix does it. |

Well, for me NEWS was about the "big" changes (all users care), while ChangeLog is about the medium changes (that have some impact and thus some users care), while the Git log is about the very tiny minute changes that are mostly useful for developers of the package itself. Hence no update to NEWS as none of the changes within 1.x were significant in my view. |
