| Summary | 0011359: Wallet: The subject for a (withdrawal) wire transfer should be prominent and integrated in the wire transfer details | ||||
| Description | Please check the attached screenshot for an inconsistency we spotted today: The iOS wallet app shows prominently the subject as a first step of its user instruction. On Android, when users are confronted with their first withdrawal in the wallet apps, they easily get the wire transfer details for their online banking application, but risk to overlook the subject line as it is shown at the second step of the instruction after its warning. The problem: Once the wire transfer is confirmed, the money sent to the Exchange's bank account will not be withdrawn by the wallet without the fitting subject. Solution: Nudge the subject line and place it in the section with the wire details as we had it before. The subject should be listed there, too, at the top of the section. We saw this in Taler wallet v1.5.0 (fdroid 812) and tested against the iOS app v.1.5.0 as well. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Look at the screenshots (here in German). Try a withdrawal in the Android wallet app, tap on the instructions ("Gebrauchsanleitung") and look at the first two steps to take. | ||||
| Additional Information | UX is Vlada's responsibility, therefore this bug ticket is assigned to her. Iván is responsible for the Android wallet, so I let him monitor in the first place. Please be so kind and negotiate who will be the lead of this ticket. THX! We need a screenshot as soon as possible when the updated screen is done in any app version. The new screenshot will be presented on the taler-ops.ch for giving an instruction to new users. This task is urgent, so the priority of this ticket is lifted, although the severity is minimal. The deadline of the updated web page on taler-ops.ch is May 8th, so please find a solution ASAP. | ||||

https://docs.taler.net/design-documents/088-wallet-withdraw.html#withdraw-pending In all bankings apps firstly goes IBAN, then recipent name, adress, amount and ONLY NEXT PAGE is about subject. There is no problem with Android app, because Ivan implemented everything according to dd88. IOS app also will be adapted soon. This was done with intend for better UX. |

Thank you, Vlada, for your comment. I see the DD(( on https://docs.taler.net/design-documents/088-wallet-withdraw.html#wire-transfer-instructions, but still we cannot be confident that users will not overlook the subject to enter it in their banking app, if they choose the manual method. As long as the majority of users will not consider NFC as method or chooses a third party's payment initiation method, there will be confusion. Secondly, we should reconsider DD88 as it is suboptimal. Oliver pointed me to this bug in the UX flow and to my mind's eyes, we cannot leave it as is. Third, please do not ignore our findings. We are in charge of redressing the user instructions on taler-ops.ch, so this ticket remains open until the discussion about the bug will find its best argument - in the given time frame (urgently). |

I patiently reconsider DD88: Placing the subject under the wire transfer details makes sense only in case the user is willingly saving the data (IBAN, recipient's name, address...) to the favorites list. But now, what do totally Taler-naive newbies? They will type in the amount and immediately trigger the wire transfer without thinking about any subject which is just a very long alphanumeric line without any meaning for their minds. As a result, the withdrawal gets fucked up. A new user will be lost. Wouldn't it be much better having a nice UX screen which is at the same time fruitfil for the user experience and our turnover? |
