Summary | 0005705: gnunet-setup: gksu alternatives
Description | So at least in gnunet-setup.c we are using gksu (line 381ff). Originally I have been pondering about what I could add to provide a fallback if gksu does not exist on the system. I don't know, there's too much out there to do this, so writing this ourselves could be more flexible for us. Which then lead me to discover that gksu and gksudo have been dropped from Ubuntu and Debian. This does not mean that we should drop this, because gksu is still out there. We just need an alternative.

Can I add pkexec as an alternative to gksu? It provides a frontend dialog for PolicyKit and is used in most applications |

Yeah I think the OP specifically meant looking for current best practices in this regard. |
