Description	we should target 1) first contentful paint under the second or less 2) time to interactive under a second (after FCP) on the defition of chrome "slow 4g" connection" // ~1.6 Mbps down download: 1.6 * 1000 * 1000 / 8 * .9, // ~0.75 Mbps up upload: 750 * 1000 / 8 * .9, // 150ms RTT latency: 150 * 3.75, https://github.com/ChromeDevTools/devtools-frontend/blob/3de3f2c2bc22ce781b8cb141897fe04385b71585/front_end/core/sdk/NetworkManager.ts#L434 Before FCP we need to get minimal assets (potentially cached) After FCP but before TTI we should check /config /settings.json and all the other APP specific initial request. Right now we are close to 1 minute tested from ARG to backend.demo.taler.net

Christian Grothoff 2026-01-23 00:30 manager ~0027315	Clearly the big issue here is that we need to reduce our dependencies as the download size is large for a transfer to AR. But that's hardly an issue for local users, so low-ish priority. Sure, performance and especially dependency reduction are good things, but the functional bugs are much more critical at this point.
