| Summary | 0011874: Taler Wallet no longer opens automatically via NFC on Android 17 | ||||
| Description | The issue is that the Taler Wallet app no longer opens automatically after reading an NFC tag on Android 17. Instead, users must first open the pre-installed Tags app and then manually select the Android app. This significantly reduces usability and makes the process much more cumbersome. The automatic app launch worked correctly on previous Android versions. The NFC link itself is correct, and other applications continue to work as expected. The issue appears to be related to how Taler Wallet handles NFC intents on Android 17. Expected behaviour: Reading the NFC tag should automatically open the Taler Wallet app, as it did on previous Android versions. Actual behaviour: Reading the NFC tag opens the Tags app (or requires interaction with it), and the user must manually select Taler Wallet afterwards. | ||||

A question is put to one person and moves the issue nowhere: it can be assigned, worked on and implemented with a question open, because whoever asked is the one who knows whether the answer still matters. Several may be open at once. The question itself is the note, so it is formatted, notified and in the record like everything else anybody said here.
